About the Unit
FMTIS (Swedish Armed Forces Telecommunications and Information Systems Unit) forms the foundation for the Armed Forces' ability to communicate and lead – around the clock, year-round. We are an important part of a stronger defense that can handle every threat and meet every challenge. With a unique combination of civilian and military expertise, we accomplish our mission and contribute to the Armed Forces' command capability.
FMTIS has a collective responsibility for the Armed Forces' technical command systems. The systems support military operations at sea, on land, and in the air – in Sweden and abroad. FMTIS is present wherever the Armed Forces are. The unit has over 2000 employees at more than 30 locations across the country.
The staff serves as the commander’s support in leading and managing the unit. Within the staff, there are various operational functions including HR/personnel, intelligence and security services, communication, finance, and logistics. The staff also includes the unit's operational command and planning function. The Command System Officer function is a central part of protecting the Armed Forces' command systems and information assets.
Main Responsibilities
As a Command System Officer, you will work within the command system function in the unit's staff and support the unit's planning and execution processes. Depending on your focus and previous experience, the position may involve work within both communication services and information systems. The role includes rotating staffing of the FMTIS command center and support with defense planning in communication matters with high detail resolution. In the long term, it may be relevant to serve as the on-duty officer for FMTIS.
- Participate in analyses and preparations.
- Staff the FMTIS Command Center.
- Act as a contact person or project manager for larger production assignments.
REQUIREMENTS
Qualifications
- Command System Officer
- Current and relevant knowledge in the field of command systems.
- Good knowledge of Swedish and English, both spoken and written.
- Good knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office suite.
- Swedish citizenship
- Class B driver's license
Personal Attributes
You are proactive and take responsibility in every given situation. You have a good ability to network and see the benefits of it. The position of Command System Officer places high demands, requiring the ability to switch between low and high workloads as well as good initiative and high stress tolerance. You also possess strong analytical skills. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.
DESIRABLE
- Active signals protection instructor
- SysOp within the Armed Forces' cryptographic communication means, e.g., MGGI, MGSI, MGM, etc.
- Military driving licenses
